American Brilliant Period Cut Glass Milk/Water Pitcher Signed H C Fry
American Brilliant period cut glass has always been a favorite of mine. This is a signed piece with an oval acid mark on the base directly under the handle.
The pitcher stands 6 inches tall and is 5 1/2 inches diameter at the base and 4 3/4 inches diameter at the top. Measuring from the lip of the pour spout to back of the handle is 7 3/4 inches. I wish I could tell you it's perfect but there are a few mini flea bites on the teeth of the rim. They are much to small to even photograph. The other point is that on one of the deep mitre cut rims is a small ding.
Lip of the pitcher is fluted with zipper cuts as well. This star pattern is radiant!Without the H C Fry book, it has been hard to exactly identify the pattern. It is very similar to the Omar pattern. However the 2 large stars on either side are radiating buzz stars. The front of the pitcher has a gorgeous 4 point star with a hobstar in the middle of it. The handle is notched and the lip of the pitcher is paneled and zippered.
All around, this is a sparkling beautiful, signed piece of early American cut glass
